Why it’s its own job
Most of it is not in the rooms. The loft, the shed, the garage and the cupboard under the stairs are where the extra van comes from, and a quote based on a bedroom count has not looked in any of them.
The date is usually somebody else’s. A completion or a tenancy end fixes the day, which means there is no slack to absorb a slow start. That argues for packing earlier, not starting earlier.
You are living in it until we arrive. The kitchen, the bathroom and the beds cannot be packed in advance, so they are always last and always the slowest part.
Two ends, two sets of problems. Parking, stairs, access and a neighbour at each address, and the one you have not seen is usually the one that causes the trouble.
